THE SCULPTURE The 2012 Unveiling of The Balance of Speed Fueled by the Indianapolis 500 Centennial and an appreciation for racing, world renowned Artist and Master Jeweler Dean K. Moy commemorates 100 years of IndyCar Racing in a most unique and dynamic fashion. "The Balance of Speed" sculpture joins Moy's other creations, which have been displayed and enjoyed worldwide, including the prestigious Arlington Million Trophy, designed and created for the world famous Churchill Downs along with the "Freedom Flight Series" Museum Collection of 18k Gold Bird Cages. ![]() This unique piece also serves as a tribute to the legacies of Ray Harroun, winner of the first Indianapolis 500; Dan Wheldon, winner of the 100th Indianapolis 500, and all of the other drivers who have competed in this historic race. "The Balance of Speed" is created from hand crafted components of sterling silver, fitted together with a jewelers precision. The 10" solid vertical cylinder weighs over 18lbs. and is capped off with black ebony and a hand hammered sterling silver dome, accented with 14k yellow gold and silver appointments. Each sterling silver race car is modeled after the winning car and scaled down to an array of individual hand sculpted components, which are then fitted to each car's main body, exhibiting great detail. |
